Dear Members,
Firstly I want to say hello and a very warm welcome to new members Florence and Christopher Eglin, Michael Clark, Malcolm Mallard, Ronald Treadwell, Chris Graham and Brian Hughes. We hope that you will soon get to know your fellow members and find some Club activities which interest you.
AGM – 27th July
This important and necessary annual event has been held and this year comprised of not one but two AGM’s. This was a direct result of the covid lockdowns. Approximately 30 Members attended. Our President Mr Robert Jenrick, MP was invited but unfortunately was unable to attend. Darren Willson, the previous Chairman, presided over the AGM for 2019 and I took over and presided over the 2020 AGM.
I am pleased to announce that I am no longer acting Chairwoman but confirmed in post. The Club Secretary and those retiring members of the Committee were voted into post once again. The end result being that the Committee remains unchanged.

Defacing of Committee nomination sheet
As part of the democratic process of electing Club officials a sheet for nominations etc is placed on the Club Notice Board for three weeks prior to the AGM. I regret to inform you that during this time the sheet was defaced and a person’s name was scored out. I take this matter very seriously indeed, not only because it is part of a democratic process but because some one who is willing to give up their time and energy for the benefit of Members is left feeling hurt and angry. I will be conducting a short process to try to investigate what happened but realistically speaking I am not likely to succeed. My hope is that this will not happen again.
19th July Relaxation of covid regulations
This date was long awaited by many – ditch the masks, hug everyone, and let’s get on with our lives! However the Government, whilst removing legal constraints, is advising everyone to be careful, cautious and mindful of others. The infection rates are generally rising and talk is of another lockdown in September.
So, for the time being, although you can now go to the Bar to purchase your drinks I am asking you all to think seriously about protecting your fellow Members by continuing with some of the measures that we have all got so used to – among these wearing face masks and social distancing. To this end some of the covid signs will remain displayed in the Club as reminders. The QR code on the Entry Hall table and the paper signing-in sheet will be available for those who chose to “sign in”. It will be, however, your choice to follow any of these measures.
Your safety is our main aim so we will continue to provide hand sanitiser at various stations and social distancing measures in the toilets will remain in place for the time being.
Please refrain from entering the Club if you have symptoms of covid-19. Let’s keep each other safe.
During the month of July – The Lincolnshire Snooker and Billiards Association, ably organised by Mr Roy Froggatt, conducted their annual Billiards Tournament in our snooker room on Sunday the 4th. About thirty people attended and appreciation of our snooker room and tables was expressed by the visitors. It is always a pleasure to welcome them. Miles provided a tasty Sunday Lunch and liquid refreshment. A good day was had by all.
On the 17th July it was eyes down for a few games of Bingo. Dot Town was her usual witty self, ably assisted by Miles.
Price Increase Please note that with effect from the 28th July the price of all drinks will be increased. This is a direct result of a price increase by the suppliers.
Visitors are always very welcome – please sign in and pay £1.00 for each person (free visitor entry during the day). A visitor’s signing -in book and payment box is now available at both the Alexander Lounge Bar and the Snooker Room Bar for your convenience.
